Course Information:
In this highly interactive 3-hour class, participants learn about the many ways in which they can create a supportive and welcoming work environment where their team members enjoy a sense of belonging and psychological safety. At some point in our lives, we have all felt that we did not belong. Participants are introduced to myriad effective techniques to cultivate and maintain a work environment where employees can be their authentic selves, do their best work, enjoy psychological safety, and feel a sense of belonging. This class will provide participants with several practical tools and resources that they can immediately implement to create a culture of belonging and psychological safety among their team.
This class specifically explores:
• The differences between fitting in and belonging
• The myriad benefits of employees experiencing a sense of belonging at work
• The elements of a psychologically safe workplace
• How to assess your work group's current sense of belonging and psychological safety, using both formal and informal assessment methods
• Behaviors that staff engage in when they have a sense of belonging
• Common obstacles to belonging and psychological safety in a team
• Creation of a plan of practical action steps
Space is limited to 30 participants – register early! Please note there is NO option for multiple attendees to join the meeting together, all participants must register and join the meeting separately.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING REGISTRATION RATES: MMA is utilizing grant funds from the Maine Workforce Development Compact (MWDC) to cover 50% of the cost for this webinar for employees of MMA member municipalities who meet eligibility requirements. To access this training at the discounted rate, you must complete an eligibility questionnaire while registering, indicating that you meet all the eligibility requirements and agree to the grant funding conditions. If you do not meet or agree to the grant eligibility requirements, you are still able to register at the MMA Member – Non-Grant Eligible or Non-Member rates. Registrants will receive their Zoom link and meeting details directly from Zoom no later than 24 hours in advance. An official workshop confirmation from MMA will follow with further instructions and access to meeting materials.

Cancellations for MMA Webinars:
Cancellations must be submitted using this Cancellation form to cancel your registration for an event. Cancellations received on/after 1/30/25 will be charged a $15 cancellation fee. Any registrant who does not attend and does not cancel their registration (i.e., no-show) and any cancellation received the day of the event will be charged the full registration fee. Registration substitutions are permitted for registrants within the same municipality/organization and will be assessed a $15 substitution fee.
