Subject: Statewide Summer Meals Partner Meeting
Hello Perry and Larry,
My name is Jamie Curley and I work at the Maine Department of Education Child Nutrition as an Outreach Coordinator with a special focus on Summer Meals.
As part of an effort to end student hunger, we are excited to invite you to our second annual Statewide Summer Meals Partner Meeting is on Thursday, November 12, 2015 from 9:00AM-12:00PM at the Augusta Armory, 179 Western Ave, Augusta, ME 04330.
Summer Meals is a federally-funded and state-administered Child Nutrition Program designed to provide free, healthy meals to children in low-income areas. The meals help children get the energy they need to grow and play throughout the summer and return to school ready to learn.
The purpose of this meeting is to discuss Summer Meals promotion and expansion efforts. We will give an update on steps taken this past year and brainstorm new ways to increase access.
We want to spread the word about the program through as many venues as possible and we would love to have someone from the Maine Town, City and County Management Association at the table.
